Registration Recap General News
It's been 48 hours since Registration for QuakeCon 2008 began. Thus far over 3000 people have signed up. Remember, if you bring snacks to QuakeCon, bring enough for everyone.

And if you have not yet registered to join the party of the year, please do so here:

Remember this is the registration for general attendance and for spots in the Bring Your Own Computer network. Tournament registration is still forthcoming. We are quite close to making an announcement about our tourneys. Check back soon!

Tonight we'd like to announce some changes to our Executive Team, the group of folks that works tirelessly year round to make QuakeCon a reality.

First, our former tournament-god T-Dawg has taken on a new position as our Director of Coverage. This is a new position dedicated to improving our online offerings during the event so that people not lucky enough to be there in person can enjoy the action.

And then filling his sizable shoes is Judba who is taking over as our Director of Competitions. Judba will be holding the reins for all of our tournaments.

Good luck, guys!

In case you were waiting for word on our Registration contest, we have the winners for you! Please congratulate:
  • 1st - daten
  • 666th - llama
  • 2008th - scooterman15
These three brave souls were deft enough to register in the appropriate order. The winners have been contacted with information about how to claim their prizes.

Register! General News
QuakeCon 2008 Registration has begun!

Join us for the fun in #quakecon on irc.gamesurge.net
or over on the forums.

------------------------------------------------

We are about 3 hours into registration, and we've had over 2100 gamers sign up. And more registrations continue to pour in. We now have the winners of our registration contest and we'll post their names tomorrow soon.

This year's event is coming together nicely behind the scenes. We'll have some more announcements for everyone in the near future.

UPDATE - As of 9am EDT (i.e. 12 hours into registration), there are 2501 people registered.

Thanks for hanging in there everyone. We had quite an influx of eager registrants, and our servers were pushed a bit too hard. But everything is hunky dory again. (Did I really just use the phrase 'hunky dory'?)

Keep in mind that tonight's registration is ONLY for GENERAL ATTENDANCE and BYOC seats and not for any tournaments at QuakeCon 2008. Tournaments and their registration date(s) will be announced at a later time. A seat in the BYOC does not have any bearing on getting a tourney space.

**To claim your registration prize you must attend QuakeCon 2008 IN PERSON and contact the staff at the InfoDesk. The winners will be announced on QuakeCon.org on Thursday May 1st, based on registration numbers in the master QuakeCon database.

QuakeCon 2008 Registration Anoouncement General News
Dallas Heats Up For QuakeCon 2008

Id Software opens 2008 registration and Anatole reservations

MESQUITE, Texas - April 22, 2008 - As temperatures begin to rise it's time to start planning the ultimate summer vacation to THE must-attend gaming event of the year - QuakeCon 2008. That's right! The world's greatest gaming festival and party will take place July 31 - August 3, 2008 in Dallas, TX at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. As always, this event is FREE to all attendees thanks to the incredible support of the QuakeCon volunteer staff, id Software, and the event sponsors and exhibitors.

QuakeCon will once again host North America's largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party, as well as an expanded exhibits area with nearly 60 companies demonstrating their latest products. Of course, it wouldn't be QuakeCon without highly-competitive tournaments for serious cash and bragging rights, parties, contests, entertainment and announcements.

Registration for the BYOC area will kick off at 9 p.m. ET on April 30, 2008 at www.quakecon.org.

The Hilton Anatole is now taking room reservations for QuakeCon 2008 through their custom QuakeCon reservation page or through their toll-free reservations number, 1-800-HILTONS. To receive the specially negotiated room rate of $137.00 (single, double, triple or quad occupancy) and the special daily self-park rate of $5 (regularly $15 per day), you must request the group rate for “QuakeCon 2008” or book through the link above when making your reservation. The hotel requires a $50 non-refundable deposit on group reservations, which will be credited to your final room bill upon check-out. Rooms at this special rate are limited.

Companies interested in receiving information on sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities should email sponsors@quakecon.org.

More exciting details about QuakeCon 2008 will follow. Visit www.quakecon.org to stay on top of the latest information. Plan your travel, reserve your hotel room and BYOC spot, practice those gaming skillz and prepare to be blown away by another awesome QuakeCon.

Hello! General News
How is everyone doing out there? We are fine, thanks for asking!

We've taken a few steps to clear out the cobwebs on the website, here. Hopefully, there's nothing glaringly inaccurate. It's all in preparation for the looming madness that is QuakeCon 2008

We have no major announcements right now, but things are happening behind the scenes. The pieces are falling into place. Hopefully we'll have some news to share with everyone soon.

But here's something for your enjoyment. After a long hiatus, the Official QuakeCon 2007 Gallery has returned! And it contains a ton of pictures you've probably never seen before. Our staff photographers did a great job last year and we're happy to share their work.

One last item of business. We are overdue for a forum wipe. So all of you Forum Patrons should be prepared. The end is nigh.
