Ghetto Lanparty is proudly entering our 6th year of serving Texas gamers, and wanted to extend the invitation to our next event to all the Quakecon folks. I know I have to get more lan action in between the yearly Quakecons, and I'm sure a great deal of others feel the same.

Vital Info:
Ghetto Lanparty 21
Saturday, November 5th, 1:00 PM - November 6th, 7:00 AM
Denton Civic Center, Denton Texas
Cost: $15 for 18 hours of gaming
Directions & Registration (http://GhettoLanparty.com)

Tournaments & Contests
5 Man Counter-Strike (Cash Prize)
2 vs 2 Rocket Arena 3 (Prizes TBA)
Motorcross Madness 2 Contest (Prizes TBA)

There will also be hosts of other games running, including Battlefield 2, Natural Selection, Quake 4, etc. etc.

We have an 11 server core network for game hosting, a gigabit connected fileserver so you can get the games you dont have quickly, and even a seperate section of the lanparty so 24 people can share a gigabit connection (for the file leaching crowd).

Usually 200-250 people end up at the Civic Center for Ghetto Lanparty, so come join us! Head to the webpage to signup!

If you have any questions, feel free to reply here, throw me an email, or catch me on aim.

Tiny LAN Party in Baton Rouge, November 12th.

Since the hurricanes hit, the NOLAFF crew has had to postpone the South Louisiana gaming goodness they've hosted fairly regularly for the past couple years. As a tribute and holdover, I'm throwing a small LAN party at my apartment next Saturday, November 12th. I've really only have space, seating, and power for about 10 people. So far, I have 2 confirmed people, and some others who are interested, but not definite yet.

It'll start Saturday at noon, and I'll let it run through Sunday noon. Games played will be Quake 4 (w00t), FEAR, and whatever else strikes your fancy.

PM me if you're interested.

CANCELED due to lack of interest.

Mo City LAN 2 (Houston TX Area) TXGF Elite
Date: December 10, 2005
Time: 9:30 AM till ???
Cost: $3 to cover the cost of the tables
Place: My House, visit the site for more info.
http://lanparty.treyandcat.com

LAN 1 was great, had just over 20 folks. This one should have about 30 folks. We are playing BF2, F.E.A.R. and will be having a Need for Speed Most Wanted Drag and Circuit tournament.

I have 12 copies of the game to give out to participants and 4 t-shirts.

Food will be Fajitas, and sweets, and of course all the sodas you can drink. My wife is making coffee cake for the early morning folks, and some are even coming friday night.

This is a little older gaming crowd (mid to late 20's and some in the 30's). Also several of the Quakecon faithful attended the last lan so come on down and have some fun. Here are some pics from the last event

Local gaming clan N|A and UTA Student Organization GoC are teaming up for the first time since September 2005 to put together the Memorial Day 2006 Weekend long LAN Extravaganza! This collaboration marks the 1 year anniversary of joint ventures between the organizations, which started with the weekend-long N|A/GoC Memorial Day LAN 2005. This weekend will be full of lanning, tournaments, and lots of variety in games.

Where:
The Source Gaming Center
2304 W Park Row Drive #21
Arlington, Texas 76013

When:
May 26th - 27th, 4P to 4A
May 27th - 28th, 6P to 7A

The N|A/GoC Memorial Day Extravaganza will be a two day event spanning Friday and Saturday nights, May 26'th and 27'th. The event will be broken into two sections, with downtime in the middle to sleep.

Friday's festivities will begin at 4pm and last until 4am. More details regarding tournaments and focus games for Friday night will be posted as they come in. At 4am we will be kicking everyone out to go home and get some sleep. All equipment can be left at The Source, and will all be kept under lock and key while we are closed.

We will pick back up again Saturday at 6pm, and play until 7am Sunday morning, when we will be making our usual ihop run. More details regarding tournaments and focus games for Saturday night will be posted as they come in.

If you are BYOC'ing, you may begin trolling back into The Source at noon on saturday, but rental equipment will not be available for use until 6pm on Saturday evening, and no official matches or tournaments will be running until at least 6pm.

Pricing:
One night: $10
Both nights: $15
Monitor Rentals: one night - $5, both nights - $8
Computer Rentals: one night - $10, both nights - $15

Food:
Food will be ordered in each night.
Friday night - TBD
Saturday night - Pizza Inn, $5 per person

It is strongly recommended that if you want to rent equipment you pay ahead for the LAN. Both groups that are hosting are prone to filling up equipment registration. The only way equipment registration will be locked is if all equipment rentals are paid for for both nights. Everything else is on a first-come first-serve basis, making it a free-for-all for equipment as The Source will also have customers on those days until midnight.

Also please be aware that the food option is for Saturday night only. If you are coming on Friday and want food you must let whoever is taking the cash know.

Our big lan is just under a week away. Held in Austin May 27th-28th we will be having tourneys for FEAR, Quake 4, UT2K4, Battlefield 2, and CS Source. We have 20 tourney systems to support the CS Source tourney.

http://www.txgf.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=NL_Lan_Parties&file=index&lanop=show_party&party_id=25

We have over 200 signed up now, and have room to go to 300. Cost is $25 if you sign up and pay now, or $30 starting next week and at the door. We just picked up a Acer Ferrari laptop as our top contest prize open to all to win after our visit to Newegg during E3. We have thousands in cash and prizes for the tourneys, and for contests, and plenty of swag. Thanks to OCZ, Coolermaster, ECS, Gigabyte, Thermaltake, Alienware, Icemat, and others for supporting the lan with prizes. We have a crash area, and will have plenty of food and beverages available at the lan. We will likely serve Amy's Ice Cream again this year as well.

We will have our mobile server rack operational for this lan with a full gigabit network backbone, and gigabit to our desktop switches.

We will have another 100 person lan the last weekend in June, and the last weekend in July. We are considering a lan in August before school goes back into session as well depending on what happens with Quakecon. If Quakecon goes on as normal mid August, then we will have a 100 seat lan the last weekend in August. These 100 seats lan resume monthly at our new headquarters, and lan center, www.TekRepublik.com. We have a full fiber to the premise connection from Grande to the center with sub 10ms pings to most gaming servers hosted in Dallas.

I am happy to see Quakecon no longer deleting out posts about other lans. Thanks to Sanlan for their assistance with our CS Source tourney. www.sanlan.org

Not sure if I'll find any Unreal fans at QuakeCON.org, but it's worth a shot. From the humble begginnings this year will be I'm hoping to turn this shindig into an "UnrealCON" of sorts in the future. Here's to hoping!

No lag. No high pings. No newnet. NO EXCUSES. The time has come to find out who really is the best: CTF 5v5, TDM 4v4. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. 100 combatants.

With one month to go, get ready for:
http://www.bellinghamlan.com/DiscoDave/header.jpg (http://www.utlan.com)

The American Unreal Tournament Assocation (AUA) presents a LAN solely for fans and players of Unreal Tournament 2004, hosted by Team Furious bros at GoodGame Online Gaming Center. UT2004 is getting it's premiere LAN event, complete with cash prizes for tournament winners. All the info is at www.utlan.com

As founder of AUA and Team Fb. and part owner of GoodGame, and above all else a fan of UT, I've always wanted to see a LAN that offered cash and was based around nothing but Unreal. Ultra Unreal satisfied this craving, but that the time of each of the 3 successful UU's I was unable to go. Like the creator of the UU LANs I have chosen to host Unreal LAN 2006 in my home town of Salt Lake City Utah.
http://www.furiousbros.com/Ender/SLC.jpg

Because of my part ownership of the gaming center I am ideally placed to maximize this party's venue. With room for 100 players, full control over the power and setup of the building, and a 100Mbps line plugged directly into Salt Lake City's internet backbone, GoodGame can provide a LAN experience like no other. With 20 PC's available for rent (so you don't have to pack your own), No hours restrictions, no noise restrictions, and right in the heart of downtown SLC, 20 minutes from SLC international airport, we've got the bases covered.
http://www.furiousbros.com/Ender/GG.jpg
Upstairs at GGOGC

We have a month left, the money for the prizes is secured and in place, the venue is ready to go, sponsorships coming in, all we need is you. Head over to www.utlan.com and get the info you need.

LAN pings. No lag. No newnet. No excuses. Unreal LAN 2006. Come compete and meet UT2004's best players at the community event of the year.

Panhandle Gamers is hosting their fourth event at the Pensacola Civic Center on September 16th and 17th 2006.

Participants can compete in tournaments in the following games:
Counter Strike (1.6 & Source)
Battle Field 2
Unreal Tournament 2004
Quake 3
Halo2 (for the X-Box & X-Box 360 game console)

Winners of said tournaments can win either cash, or sponsor provided prizes (PC cases, fans, computer mice, power supplies, etc).

Many sponsors (relevant to the gaming and computer industry) send us all kinds of items and marketing material and sometimes give us new stuff to show off to the computer geeks. Many of the attendees have “modded” computers, with bright lights, windows, and water cooling, it’s definitely a sight worth seeing.

All of these people from the Pensacola area, as well as out of state, come to these events because they are fun, and everyone shares a common interest. Those who are unfamiliar with computers or gaming are encouraged to come anyways, there’s plenty to do (and not to mention free stuff).

Panhandle Gamers is dedicated to putting the “Party” back into LAN Party, by this we mean having some entertainment, such as comedic acts, talent shows, hardware and over clocking workshops, etc. It’s really a sight to see for those of ALL ages (attendees range from age 12 to…middle aged).

So drop by the Pensacola Civic Center on September 16th & 17th (2nd floor) and take a look at what is going on. Its $15 per day if you wish to bring your own computer or game console, and FREE to spectate.
Visit www.PanhandleGamers.com for more info.

Pizza Delivery from (papa Johns?) within eye sight of the parking lot.
Arby's directly across the parking and across a side street to the north.

It isn't mentioned here, but from their forum I've found one can sleep not only at one's computer but also in a special "tent city" if camping out is desired :)

In addition to our normal last Saturday of the month lans we have added adult lans. These are more mature events for gamers 21 and up. They are going to be the 2nd weekend of the month. Our initial adult lan was pushed back a week to the 20th of this month to make room for the LOTV Lockin we hosted. Then we follow up with November the 10th, and then December 8th. Our updated schedule is as follows.

TXGF Adult lans
October 20th 11PM-7AM $20 rent/$10 BYOC
November 10th 11PM-7AM $20 rent/$10 BYOC
December 8th 11PM-7AM $20 rent/$10 BYOC

TXGF Monthly lans
October 28th 12PM-2AM $20 rent/$10 BYOC
December 30th 12PM-2AM $20 rent/$10 BYOC

Due to the proximity of Thanksgiving to our normal November date we have skipped that one again this year.

Our venue for each lan is Tek Republik in Austin. Details can be found at www.TXGF.com, or www.TekRepublik.com.

their forum I've found one can sleep not only at one's computer but also in a special "tent city" if camping out is desired :)

Correct. Since we are at the military base; the have no problem with sleeping or showering in the supplied showers. I'm sure I'll be sleeping somewhere.

We also expect to be announcing in the next day or so the availability of DELL XPS 700 (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsdt_700?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19) systems for rent. All proceeds from that rental will be donated to the UnitedWay. Watch the forums for more information.

Also we expect tons of SWAG... Nothing would please me to no end to have enough prizes to cover all 300 attendees... but I'll settle out for an internal goal of 1:4 attendees with a prize. Right now I can't answer officially; but here's what we have announced in the Forums:

-------------- (http://www.austinmodders.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1501)

Some prizes will be given to the winners of our Tournaments (http://www.austinmodders.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=49); but a majority of these prizes will be available as part of random raffles. So; what are you waiting for.... pre-register (http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=119241) already!

We'll post more details and exact prizes available as they arrive; but we wanted to wet your appetite all the swag. Here are the vendors sending swag - in alphabetical order:

Intel (http://www.intel.com)
Other than Power, tables/chairs, and items to make the lan possible; Intel will be providing numerous prizes of significant value... Who knows... maybe even a newly release product or two. ;)

Dell (http://www.Dell.com)
As a major co-sponsor; Dell expects to be providing XPS 700 systems for servers, Veterans, and BYOC rental. More information when we can solidify plans.

MTV News will be in Austin next week, and they will be around the night of October 25th at 8PM taping. We expect a big crowd with overflow into the parking lot of Tek Republik. There may be swag, and there will be excitement. They are looking to do stories on Austin gamers, and if you want to reserve a computer due so soon, and show up early for the taping! You can also BYOC for this event. MTV is looking for gamers to talk to, and teens to 30 is the preferred age. Girl gamers will also be in demand. For a chance to get on MTV, and to hang out with the Austin gaming crowd make sure you are here. MTV may have some special swag, and even if they don't we will be handing out items, and we may, may even give away some gaming hours to some lucky individuals. Peace, Love, and Rockets is a LAN Party located in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex right in the heart of Texas. We host 5 LAN Events a year and take over our own section of the BYOC every year at QuakeCon. We welcome everyone to our LAN's and play games from all genres including FPS, RTS, and MMO.

PLR was born out of the monthly LAN Parties thrown by local gaming clan Nicht Anwenderfreundlich (N|A) (http://www.na-is.com). The event, which started out as a hangout and game session for local clan members, began to attract more and more gamers, and non-N|A members began to outnumber the clan members. For More Info... (http://www.peaceloveandrockets.org/index.php?location=About)

This will be our first public LAN since the closing of The Source Gaming Center and our first ever PLR so we'd love it if you'd all come out and join us!

Registration will open Monday January 1st at 8:00pm CST. So have www.peaceloveandrockets.com (http://www.peaceloveandrockets.com) up in your favorite browser to make sure you get a spot* in what is sure to be a fun filled event!
*As this is the first ever PLR we have limited the size to 30 BYOC spots, so make sure to sign up if you plan on attending.

This program is what we use to share patches. This program requires you to index
your files so please do that before coming to the LAN. It takes up to a few
hours depending on how much you share. We will be running the HUB for the LAN and
there are a few of us who bring in servers just for serving out files needed. If
you have any questions about how this works post in the forums

There is internet available at the hotel however it is wireless only so please
remember to bring your wireless card and DRIVERS!

We've increased the signups this month to 40. The hotel put in 10 -
20AMP circuits for us. You can see pictures of the octopus box and the 10 lines
in the gallery on www.dfwfrag.com.

They also added a 2nd T-1 for added bandwidth. I will point out again that we
only have access through wireless and so pings aren't that great for over the
internet gaming. Which shouldn't be a issue because the point of a LAN is to
game on local server with 0 pings! We'll work on getting a wired connection
in the near future.

DFWFrag's current network consists of Gigabit and 10/100 connections. All
servers are connected to the Gigabit switch and remaining Gig ports are first
come first serve!

It's that time again. Peace Love and Rockets is proud to bring to you our second event of the year "PLR 2". Our first event was a success and we'd like to invite you out to the next event.

PLR 2 will be held on March 17th 2007 from 7:00pm to 7:00am CST in Ennis, Texas. Cost of the event will be $10 if paid ahead, and $12 if paid at the door. We are continuing to limit our attendance to 30 BYOC spots while power and space adjustments are being made to the facility, so be sure to remember to register if you intend on bringing a PC to the event.

For anyone interested in coming, we strongly recommend registering ASAP. You can register by going to Peace, Love and Rockets (http://www.peaceloveandrockets.com/) and clicking "Register Here".

SteelSeries and nVidia have both signed up to sponsor this next event, and the official focus games will be Quake 3 CTF, and FEAR Deathmatch. Dedicated servers will be on site for both games.

URGENT: Peace, Love, and Rockets 3 has been moved to our regular location in Ennis, TX. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured that we are doing this to bring about the best possible LAN experience for our attendees. If you do not read the bulk of this message, please scroll down to the bottom and read the action needed by you at this point.

Within the past week, we here at PLR have received a number of disconcerting communications from the SuburbLAN group, and will no longer be working with them on this event in order to make sure we have a solid and reliable LAN for everyone to enjoy. We were originally told that SuburbLAN had secured a location that could accommodate 150 gamers of the pc and console variety, as well as a concert and a lounge area. We then found out that the area we were to be setup in was a 30ft x 18ft 540 sq foot room. Plans were changed around, and an agreement was made to cancel the concert and move into a larger room in order to sustain our present capacity. Since that time it has come to our attention that the building that was supposedly secured by the SuburbLAN staff is now no longer able to be used for the event and that we were being asked to use the smaller day care building next door. This business does not close until 1 hour before the LAN, so there would be no time for us to setup. We are also being told that we could not support all of our attendees in the size of the location, and that there was a constant unpleasant smell. On top of the location issues, the SuburbLAN staff had also informed us that they had plenty of tables for up to 150 gamers, and that they were secured and taken care of. This week we were informed that there was a request to use tables, that it was denied, and that there was an email sent to the salvation army requesting tables with no response. At present, the only tables available are inconsistent in size, shape, and located in the building that we have been denied access to.

In light of these discrepancies that lay outside of PLR's control, we have decided to make decisions based around what we can control, in order to make sure that the most important people involved, the attendees, will have a comfortable, secured, and 100% guaranteed place to have a good time. PLR is about consistency, honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, and overall a good time. We felt that severing the relationship with SuburbLAN was the only way we could stay in tune with our moral duty to our attendees.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
Due to changing location, we will have to reduce the capacity of the LAN in order to be in line with what we can actually accommodate. Please check your registration by clicking the "Click here to register" button on www.peaceloveandrockets.org (http://www.peaceloveandrockets.org) to see where you are.

Consoles:
PLR does not have the capacity, nor the interest at this point, to host console events. If you previously registered as a console user, your registration has been removed. We apologize, and will attempt to host a console/pc event in the near future for any attendees who can no longer make this event. If you have pre-paid for the event, your money will be refunded immediately.

PC's:
If you registered for the LAN but have not clicked the link in your email to complete your registration, and have not responded to any of the emails sent out by the PLR Staff, your registration has been deleted. If you wish to re-register you may do so for a spot on the waiting list. If you can no longer make this event due to the location change, we need you to respond to this communication via email, or a post on the Peace, Love, and Rockets message board and we will get your name removed from the registration so that other's who can make it can get a guaranteed spot. If you have pre-paid for the event, your money will be refunded immediately.

Unknowns:
All unknowns have been sent numerous emails without response, and there has been a post made on the SuburbLAN forums to determine what time of equipment you are bringing. Due to the console/pc issue, we are now deleting all user's who have not made an attempt to get us the requested information. If you were a console user please see above, and if you were a PC user you will need to re-register for a spot on the waiting list. If you have pre-paid for the event, your money will be refunded immediately.

Other information:
PLR will still host the Quake 4 shootout, 1v1 tournament, and BFME challenge if there is enough interest on site. Energy Zone will also still be on site providing Bawls, Red Bull, and Monster energy drinks for $2/can, however LAN Juice will not be available due to the limited time we have to pull this together.

Once again we apologize for the last minute change, but please understand that is in the best interest for all involved, and is what we felt to be the morally correct thing to do for Peace, Love, and Rockets.

If you are a gamer, love to play games, or just enjoy playing on your spare time, you Will enjoy yourself. We will have lots of games going on. The big ones are Original Unreal Tournament and Super Smash Brothers for the Gamecube, but we have also had Quake 4, UT2K4, Battlefield 1942, DDR, Wii Games (like Wii sports), Guitar Hero, and we're trying to get a group of Halo players this year. Pretty much, whatever people bring, people play. They provide most of the games.

If you are interested and want to have an awesome time, come join us. Nacogdoches group will meet at my house the morning of June 16. People are more than welcome to stay at my house the night before. I usually have a good crowd. I will give more details on that when the time comes. I got this mass email from the Super Cricket at Ghetto Lan reminding folks of a Ghetto Lan 26 in Dention texas.
here are a few parts of it that made me wanna post here:
So for Ghetto Lanparty 26 in two and one-half weeks, we have
the following improvements for you loyal Counter-Strikers:

* Dedicated network segment (if you sit and connect your computer in the correct
part of the room)

* 10 rack mounted servers to spread the load across. Yes I said 10. Easy way to
communicate to the server operators (for switching maps, starting matches, etc.)

* Actual coverage after the lanparty is over. If you crazy jerks actually win,
the world should know. I promise our web host wont die this time. :-)

his brief message is for all of you folks who have received too much sun already
and have forgotten that our first lanparty of 2007 is a little over two weeks away.
Don't forget, and register now to hold your spot at the biggest nerd gathering
in the area!

Rock on MeatMonkey!

I guess I will add that we are also hosting a Quake 4 tournament running the newest beta patch ID gave out this month. We have four dualie processor servers for this tournament, so it should run pretty smooth. It will be 1v1 with 15 minute matches.

The prizes are as follows:
1st - Coolermaster Case and $40
2nd - Random Schwag and $20
3rd- Random Schwag and $10

Matches will be 15 minutes long. Single elimination. We will be using the newest 1.4.1 patch (just came out 5 days ago) and the following maps:

Torment
Monsoon
Ravage
Placebo Effect
Phrantic

I believe right now we have 165 people signed up for the event. Should pack around 200 folk in the doors like usual. Ton of server and network upgrades since our October 2006 event too.

Console gamers are encouraged to bring out their TVs and Xboxes, PS3s and what not. We have a section of the room just for you chumps who like to hold a controller instead of a mouse. :)

So if you are in North Texas and want your fix, come out and join us for the first of our two 2007 events. Still only $15 even after 6 years of service! If you guys have any questions hit me up by e-mail or AIM (contact info below). I'll be plenty drunk and up late working on these servers for the rest of the week until the party.

September 1st marks an exciting change for PLR; the return of an Arlington LAN location. That’s right folks the Labor Day LAN will be held in Arlington at EZnet Café (http://www.eznet-cafe.com/). This location is in a great area right off Park Row & S Cooper. It’s next to Arlington High School, the UTA campus, and right up the road from where The Source Gaming Center used to be. There are a handful of different types of places to eat within walking distance and even a donut shop for breakfast ;) This change brings the return of system rentals for those of you who don’t like to lug your system around or don’t have a system of your own.

Some other changes with this location:
Pizza orders will be done at sign-in.
The return of the flat fee. No more having to worry about those extra $2.
On site snacks and drinks.

Let’s have a great turn out and show these guys what Peace, Love and Rockets is all about.

Where: EZnet Café, 1521 S. Cooper Street, Arlington, Texas 76010
When: September 1st – 2nd 7 PM to 7 AM
Price: $10 BYOC or $20 system rental

Registration will open on Monday 8.13.07 at 9:00pm CST
